Yes! Currently advertisers get two x 35-character description lines. The new Expanded Text Ads will have one consolidated 80-character line.

3. How much bigger will these new ads be, compared to the current ads?
The new ads are 2x the size of the current text ads. Currently, headlines have space for one 25-character headline - the new ads will have two 30-character headlines. Also, the description line will expand from two x 30-character lines to one 80-character line.

We think you should! Working on the quality score of your ads is the best way to get your account in shape for this latest update. Your quality score is determined by the quality and relevance of your ads and helps determine where your ad ranks on the search engine results pages (SERPs). The new layout will mean your ad will receive a lot more real estate on the SERPs, so you want your ad as high as possible to really utilise all that these expanded text ads can offer.

Earlier this year we saw Google remove all ads which used to display down the right hand side of the SERPs. This was due to Google’s movement towards unifying the desktop-mobile experience for their users. Now, with that extra space they created with removing right-hand ads, they can afford to supersize ad headlines - which we’re not complaining about!
7. Will this make a difference to the performance of my ads?
Absolutely! Early reports suggest as much as 20% increase in CTR. More space for text means greater visibility for ads - and that can’t be a bad thing!
8. What are Expanded Text Ads
Expanded Text Ads are a new style of text advert which will be two times the size of Google’s current text adverts. These new ads will be rolled out across all devices and will help businesses maximise their presence in the SERPs. With a larger headlines and more space in the description area, businesses can expect increased performance from their ads across desktop and mobile devices.
9. By how much are the headlines expanding
Currently advertisers have one x 25 character headline. The new Expanded Text Ads will have two x 30 character headlines.
10. What's changing with display URLs
This new system will have AdWords automatically extract the domain from the final URL. Advertiser will then have the option to add up to two paths to enhance the display URL (using up to 15 characters).
